چکیده
Engineered water surfactant flooding (EWSF) is a novel EOR technique to reduce residual oil saturation; however, it becomes quite challenging obtain Winsor Type III microemulsion and the lowest IFT under actual reservoir conditions if only low salinity used. The main objective of this study was design negative gradient optimize performance hybrid method. Three corefloods were performed on carbonate outcrop samples. injection sequence in first test conventional waterflooding followed by optimum engineered (2900 ppm) finally an EWSF stage. second third tests conducted using varying gradient. for designed 10 times dilution Caspian Sea spiking with key active ions. A higher used test. total 4300 ppm brine 1 wt% injected as pre-flush after further reduced (~1400 ppm). consisted three post-waterflooding stages salinities 4600, 3700, 290 ppm, respectively. Up 8% 16% more incremental recovery obtained tests, respectively, compared descending order helped create environment despite adsorption. This provided successful LSSF adjusting creating during flooding. reduction saturation can be achieved carefully designing test, improving project economics.

متن کاملAn Experimental Study of CO2-low Salinity Water Alternating Gas Injection in Sandstone Heavy Oil Reservoirs
Several studies have shown that oil recovery significantly increased by low salinity water flooding (LSWF) in sandstones. However, mechanism of oil recovery improvement is still controversial. CO2 that develops buffer in presence of water is expected as a deterrent factor in LSWF efficiency based on mechanism of IFT reduction due to pH uprising. No bright evidence in literature suppo...
متن کاملZeta potential in oil-water-carbonate systems and its impact on oil recovery during controlled salinity water-flooding
Laboratory experiments and field trials have shown that oil recovery from carbonate reservoirs can be increased by modifying the brine composition injected during recovery in a process termed controlled salinity water-flooding (CSW). However, CSW remains poorly understood and there is no method to predict the optimum CSW composition. This work demonstrates for the first time that improved oil r...
متن کاملLow Salinity Oil Recovery - an Experimental Investigation
The idea of injecting low salinity water into a petroleum reservoir is not novel and was often used in the 70’s prior to the injection of surfactant. Yet, recently it was shown that simply injecting sufficiently low salinity water improves oil recovery (LoSalTM). Many possible mechanisms concerning Low salinity waterflood have been proposed in the literature. This paper describes an experimenta...
